Local SEO Business Listing Procedure and Details
There is a specific process and time delay to all of the major local listings in Google, Yahoo, and Bing. In Google we will go in and create the business listing within the Google places page and claim the listing. However, the verification process has changed to phone verification only for the business phone of the end client. The end client will receive a pin number through the phone from Google and this would have to be forwarded to you and of course you would forward that to us so we can complete the verification of the listing. There is also a text message option for Google verification. Google used to send out post cards with the pin number as an option, but this service is no longer available through Google.
As for Yahoo and Bing, the process of getting listed can take either a couple of days or several months. Yahoo tends to be faster with processing time within 2 weeks typically. As most of us in the SEO industry know, Bing is quite backed up and some listings are taking 2-3 months to appear.
